The capital of Tenerife is Santa Cruz, which is in the north of the island. It is a vibrant town with a long harbour which serves container ships, cruise liners and inter-island ferries and jet foils. Here you can find museums which feature flora and fauna and geographical artefacts, paintings, and war memorabilia and don't forget to take your camera and capture the 'oldie worldie' architecture.
In the Tenerife National Park, the volcano, Pica del Teide, (which last erupted in 1909) is 3718 meters high and is the third largest volcano in the world. The TITSA bus will take you there, and back and a cable car will take you to nearly the top of the volcano. Again, don't forget your camera - there are some wonderful views to be captured.
