Tenerife

Tenerife is the largest and highest island in the Canaries. The name comes from 'tiner' meaning mountain and 'ife' meaning white.

When you book your own holiday package to Tenerife, (arriving at either Tenerife South, or Tenerife North airport) one of our Tenerife airport transfers will be there to collect you from the airport, you can rest assured that you will have a swift and comfortable journey to your accommodation.

Once arriving at your accommodation in Tenerife, there is no problem with transport for your days out. Taxis are not expensive, very easy to obtain, and most taxi drivers speak English.

If you want to enjoy a day out why not take the local bus, TITSA? You can buy tickets on the bus or go to the bus station (estacion de guaguas) and ask for a 'bonobus' ticket - a saving of up to 50% on normal travel costs- which any guests in your holiday party can use. Just put the card into the machine on the bus, tell the driver your destination, and the price of fare will be deducted from the card.

The capital of Tenerife is Santa Cruz, which is in the north of the island. It is a vibrant town with a long harbour which serves container ships, cruise liners and inter-island ferries and jet foils. Here you can find museums which feature flora and fauna and geographical artefacts, paintings, and war memorabilia and don't forget to take your camera and capture the 'oldie worldie' architecture.

In the Tenerife National Park, the volcano, Pica del Teide, (which last erupted in 1909) is 3718 meters high and is the third largest volcano in the world. It lays in the Teide National Park, which is a World Heritage Site, and a fantastic day out. The TITSA bus will take you there, and back and a cable car will take you to nearly the top of the volcano. Again, don't forget your camera - there are some wonderful views to be captured.

Playa de las Americas is the most popular resort on the island of Tenerife. A airport transfer to Playa de las Americas costs from around £4.50 per person.

A superb promenade stretches from Costa Adeje to Los Cristianos and lets you overlook the high rollers on the sea, the volcanic beaches and gives time to view the surfers. There's lots of night life, so many shops to browse, good restaurants, and the best night clubs on the island.

Los Gigantes, situated on the west coast of Tenerife, offers dramatic views of the sea and cliffs and a time to spot dolphins basking in the sunshine either from a restaurant or a boat trip.

Tenerife's zoo is Loro Parque (Parrot Park) and is a 'must not miss' day out. It is situated on the outskirts of Puerto de La Cruz, but if you arrive by the local bus, you can enjoy a free road train ride from the town. This zoo is amazing! You will be enthralled by the dolphin, whale and seal shows, parrot shows, but best of all is the Penguin Planatarium.

Bananera El Guanche is where you can learn everything you wanted to know about how bananas are grown in Tenerife. Hop on the free bus from Puerta de la Cruz, but be aware there will probably be an entrance fee to visit the plantation.

The oldest tree in the Canary Islands is situated, on Tenerife, in the village of Icod de los Vinos. Named the 'Dragon Tree', it is over 1,000 years old! This makes for an excellent photo opportunity, one of the best on Tenerife, together with the Iglesia de San Marcos (a white painted church).

Tenerife offers a temperate climate - averaging 20 degrees from November to June, and 25 degrees from July to October -with very little rain fall.

There's plenty of fun and enjoyment to be had on Tenerife, we at clicktransfers.com hope you have a wonderful time and hope to be waiting for you at the airport!
